What this means in everyday terms is that your teeth must match the outline of your lips, showing just enough gums, but not too much, make sure your smile is broad and wide so you do not have dark area's on the sides when you smile, and that your teeth are NOT brought back too far in your face. We not only care about what you look like today, but also when your 40, 50, and 60! If your teeth are brought back too far, either with headgear or extensive extractions of teeth, its possible your face can prematurely age. Dr Thomas carefully evaluates your smile, profile, position of your teeth in your face, to make sure they are in the best position possible for your face over the lifetime of your smile.

One of the main reason's Dr Thomas chooses to have permanent teeth removed is to enable his patients to comfortably close their lips together without having to strain to close their mouth and lips. If your teeth are so far forward that you cannot close your lips comfortably, then it makes sense to bring the front teeth back, often requiring extractions of permanent teeth in these specific situations.

Poway Earth Day!

What a Fantastic Day for Poway! Midlland Road was shut down and vendors, restaurants, and local businesses shared their services and visions for those in attendance. Poway Braces, Dr. Thomas and his team (Rene and Yasman) met hundreds of Poway Residents, had a great time and enjoyed having so many children spin our wheel to win fun prizes! Thank you Poway!

Dr Thomas is now certified to use the technique called Wilkodontics!! In his ongoing quest to provide quality orthodontic treatment and care, Dr Thomas recently attended an intensive advanced training course taught by the inventors of the technique (Dr’s Wilcko and Wilcko) in Erie Pennsylvania.

Advanced Orthodontic Training & Dr William Thomas

This past February, Poway Orthodontist Dr William Thomas attended the second largest Orthodontic meeting held in the United States called the Damon Forum. It was held in Orlando Florida & had over 2000 doctors and staff in attendance. Over three days, Dr Thomas attended and participated in 16 hours of continuing education courses - California only requires 50 hours every two years!!
